If you submit a complete application here, it will be reviewed by all of the organizations where you meet their qualifications.
Applications for 2017 may be made online beginning September, 2016, and must be submitted by April 3, 2017.
Applicants must be full time students at an accredited U.S. college or university or an ASE/NATEF Certified post-secondary automotive, heavy duty, or collision repair school. Graduating high school seniors planning to be full time students at any of the above also qualify. No GPA requirement.
You can go to the on line application form using the Apply On Line button at the bottom of this page. You might not have all the required information when you begin this process. You can start the application now, "submit" and save this form using your e-mail address and a password of your choice. You can log on later and click on the "Update Your Application" button to retrieve, update, and complete your application. You may continue to update your application until March 31, 2016 or until it has been assigned to reviewers.
You will be asked for a one-page essay about your career goals. This may be entered directly into the on-line application, or attached to the application as a Word or Adobe .pdf file. You can also post an optional short video on YouTube and include the link to it on your scholarship application. If you mark the video as "Private" only our reviewers will have the link to view it.
You will be asked for at least one letter of reference. The best reference letters come from your employer, an automotive teacher or counselor, or your sponsor from the automotive aftermarket. Some of the organizations that work with GAAS and UAF require a reference from one of their members. Each organization's page has the details about their eligibility requirements.
You must submit your high school transcript, and your post-secondary transcript if you are already in a post secondary program. We will accept copies of school transcripts.
Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
If you are attending or planning to attend a college in Canda, please see the Canada tab on the right side of the home page for the separate instructions and application for a Canadian award. Please apply directly using that form, and do not apply on line here.
NOTE to 2017 applicants. You will need to submit your transcripts and references to complete your application. Please make sure your name is clearly on every page. You may attach them to your on-line application, mail them to the address on the application form, or fax them to the attention of Jennifer Hollar at (919) 237-9378. You may also submit additional items by e-mail. Please show your name and “Automotive Scholarship Application Information” in the subject line of the e-mail. Please show a description of any attached files in the text. E-mail them to email@example.com.
